ABOUT US
OUR MISSION
Our Mission is to reduce disparities in children’s health and education outcomes by promoting equity in the delivery of quality health care. We will achieve this goal by advocating for a community-based, culturally specific, Center for Excellence in Health. Children will receive care that promotes health and wellbeing, prevents illness and treats existing health issues with evidenced-based quality national standards.
OUR VISION
Our Vision is to merge health and children’s education as they are inseparable and dependent on each other. We envision the Center of Excellence in Health to be an extension, of the schools’ campuses; all working together to improve access to quality treatment and health care communication. We foresee inclusion of holistic modalities, such as a youth development program, designs that reduce climate change, and a plant-based nutritional program.
Two diseases that our children are heavily burdened with are uncontrolled asthma and obesity. State of the art specialty clinics for Asthma Management and Obesity Treatment will decrease the disparate rates of asthma related emergencies and hospitalizations, therefore children will have fewer days of missed school. Family focused Obesity treatment is an approach that decreases the risk of developing asthma, diabetes and cardiac-vascular diseases within the entire family system.
At the youth development program, children will have access to recreational activities tailored for children with asthma, such as a swimming pool with swimming lessons. There will be a plant-based nutritional focus to promote optimal immune functioning and normal weight. Children will receive mentoring to develop self-care efficacy, leadership skills, academic and vocational goals, and an appreciation for civic engagement. Parent coaches will be available to assist caregivers in learning skills that facilitate health and wellbeing in their children.
The multi-purpose building will also provide access to the community for wellness activities, such as a climate-controlled garden space, concert area and walking/jogging paths.
