Our Purpose
The driving force for this project is to reach the goal of
Equity in Children's Health and Education.
The focus of this initiative is to develop a health and wellness center, which is in close proximity to elementary schools. Collaboration between Architecture and Nursing brought forth creative synergy; resulting in Healthy Designs for Learning ® model. Its design encompasses a multi-purpose health and wellness center, which addresses the needs of children who live in zip codes where there are disparate outcomes in health and education.
DESIGN
Center of Excellence in Asthma Treatment
Educational space and resources for families to learn how to control their children’s asthma symptoms.
Swimming pool with swimming lessons to promote lung functioning and alternative activity opportunities.
Climate controlled green space for exercise
Recreational facilities in climate/air controlled environment
Commercial kitchen resources to deliver healthy meals and nutritional support
​Science labs, media labs, learning spaces, technology resources, and recreational facilities, performing and art facilities
